When: Saturday, June 21, 2008, 8 p.m.
Where: Ridglea Theatre, 6025 Camp Bowie Boulevard, Fort Worth
Cost: $25
Worth it: Every
penny! Toadies lead singer Vaden Todd Lewis performs with the
band at Saturday's show playing to a packed house ; nothing like coming
home
to secure your
roots. The once infamous MTV heart throbs of Fort Worth hit the
mainstream even if only for a short time , largely on the success
of their shout-along single Possum Kingdom. The
Toadies till now were hidden on the national "where
are they now list." All the while being the kings in
the DFW pop scene ,even if walking on the "Dark Side"
of Possum Kingdom glory.
Quoted from Jam Base, "Let’s face it; the music industry isn’t the
same as it was 10-15 years ago. They just don’t make ’em like they used
to. Remember when the rock/alternative scene was good? It was a long
time ago, I know. Bands don’t sound like The Toadies, or The Pixies, or
Nirvana, or the old Pearl Jam (before becoming political activists)
anymore."......And thank god that the age of clone music is over.
Everything is new. New Sounds new moves new hits and
new kids on the block. Even if they are throwing their hat into
the come back (ra ra ra ring oh ohoo) as well. Good show guys ,
fans were not let down with a Baboon on board and a non Burdened
Brother at the helm. The show was a great race down
Grunge memory lane. And if you are still feeling nostalgic,
tell mom and dad that the $400-$500 seats may still be available to see
New Kids Jordan, John, Donnie, Danny, and Joe October 19th at the AAC.
